  • When they start out in athletics it is a "joint venture" (we are doing this together, and they need us to be involved) it is a tie, a level of communication, something to you are supposed to do –
  • the parents who have kids that aren't interested or aren't good enough gradually find other things –
  • the parents that have kids who have some success see athletics as maybe their best link with their kids, and it is because of their "expertise" and their self image –
